TRT & Hazmat Course/Conference Scholarship
The Strong Stitch is committed to supporting the dedicated firefighters of Polk County. This scholarship is designed to help you advance your skills in the critical fields of Technical Rescue and Hazardous Materials. Below are the guidelines for applying.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
Applicants must be full-time, career firefighters employed by a fire department within the geographical boundaries of Polk County, Florida. This scholarship is not open to volunteer or part-time personnel at this time.
Eligible Training
The course or conference must specifically focus on Technical Rescue or Hazardous Materials. Other types of training will not be considered.
How to Apply: Your Mission Brief
To apply, submit the following items via email:
- Your Essay: A 300-500 word statement explaining why you are the best candidate. Tell us about your dedication to the fire service, your career goals, and how this training will enhance your capabilities and benefit your department.
- Course Details: Clearly state the name of the course or conference you wish to attend, including its dates and location.
- Submission: Email your complete application package to TheStrongStitch@outlook.com.
What the Scholarship Covers
The award covers the full cost of tuition and lab fees. Please note that all other expenses, including travel, gas, lodging, and meals, are the responsibility of the recipient.
Commitment and Accountability
Recipients are expected to attend and successfully pass the course. If a recipient is unable to attend or complete the course, they are required to fully reimburse The Strong Stitch for all funds provided. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from future opportunities and may require legal action to recover the funds.
The Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by a scholarship panel. The panel will evaluate applications based on merit, the quality of the essay, and the relevance of the course to the applicant’s professional development. All decisions are final.
Agreement to Terms & Legal Release
Submitting an application means you agree to all rules outlined here. If selected, you agree to represent yourself and The Strong Stitch with the professionalism and integrity expected of the fire service. By applying, you also release and hold harmless The Strong Stitch, its owners, and affiliates from any and all claims or liabilities arising from participation in this program.
The scholarship is non-transferable. The Strong Stitch reserves the right to modify or terminate this program at any time. For any questions, please contact us.
